Masada

About half the MIT students that are in Israel, met up to travel to Masada, Dead Sea and Ein Gedi all in one weekend. Here is the first part of our trip.

Bedowin's living corridors. I saw a lot of this throughout the desert on the way to Masada.

Masada-the best thing for Masada is to get there the night before, start hiking up Masada at 4am and get to the top before sun rise. Enjoy the sun rise over the dead sea while sitting on ruins. After the sun is up, enjoy walking around all the ruins and hike back down for a huge well deserved breakfast.

Area infront of our hostel that we walked through the night before we hiked up Masada.

Waiting for the gate to open at 4:15am

Sun starting to rise over the dead sea

Us chilling watching the sun rise.

Some of the ruins. There were so many.

Mountains that surround the othersie of Masada...the side that does not look over the dead sea.

A view of our hostel from the top of Masada. Where we started our hike at 4:20am.

In a huge hole in the ground that used to store the water for the citizens of Masada.

Alyssa's b-day

Pictures from celebrating Alyssa's birthday in Carmel center.

Candles in Israel consist of the sparklers I am used to receiving on July 4th.
Stella, Alyssa and I. Ice cream in israel= very good

The group at dinner for alyssa's bday dinner.

Alyssa and her birthday "ice cream cake". We do not have ovens so this is the best I could do and I could not find candles so the wafers became "candles"

Nazareth

So my pictures don't really do my experience in Nazareth justice but here are some pictures and enjoy.

Tariq and his family. Chatting and enjoying food on their balcony
Really cool picture of one of the steeples in the church of annunciation
Yea, no big deal. Just ruins chilling underneath the church.

Service going on in French. The cave area is believed to be where Mary lived when growing up.
Church of Annunciation from the road.

Haifa-Food Festival

Food Festival that went on in Haifa on the beach for three evenings. This was its first year it was in Haifa.

Entrance to the closed off area along the beach.
Food stands were set up all over and there were so many people there.

Ronni and me. Ronni joined us there once she had finished work.

Alyss and Sivan.

Kinnert from the Golan Heights

June 26th-27th

Me and 7 other MISTI students got together and traveled to the golan heights to go rapelling. The pictures are awesome and I wish I could post them all.

What happened the night before we went hiking in the Golan Heights-Yehudiya.

Our walk on a trail to see the sunset over the kinnert.

Group shot of all of us on our walk...

Cows :). I think they need to be milked...

This is the real thing..we are in the middle east...mines left in the ground from Israel fighting with Syria.

Our Mongolian hut we stayed in for the night...

Me outside it and below was the inside of the hut...

Eating dinner...pizza..what was open after shabbat ended on Saturday night.
